Visual Arts

Content Standard 2:

Students employ organizational structures and analyze what makes them effective or not effective in the communication of ideas.

Content Standard 6:

Students compare the characteristics of works in two or more art forms that share similar subject matter, historical periods, or cultural context.


Understanding dance as a way to create and communicate meaning.

Language Arts K-12

Applying Knowledge Students apply knowledge of language structure, language conventions (e.g., spelling and punctuation), media techniques, figurative language, and genre to create, critique, and discuss print and nonprint texts.

Applying Language Skills

Students use spoken, written, and visual language to accomplish their own purposes (e.g., for learning, enjoyment, persuasion, and the exchange of information).

Evaluating Data Students conduct research on issues and interests by generating ideas and questions, and by posing problems. They gather, evaluate, and synthesize data from a variety of sources (e.g., print and non-print texts, artifacts, people) to communicate their discoveries in ways that suit their purpose and audience.

Social Studies

Time Continuity and Change Social studies programs should include experiences that provide for the study of the ways human beings view themselves in and over time.

Civic Ideals and Practice Social studies programs should include experiences that provide for the study of the ideals, principles, and practices of citizenship in a democratic republic.
