THE BEMIS CENTER FOR CONTEMPORARY ARTS CELEBRATES 30 YEARS!
Reflecting on her experience as an artist-in-residence in 2006, Tara Welch called the Bemis Center “ The Super Bowl of residencies!”
In 2011, the Bemis Center celebrates its 30th Anniversary and the dedication of our Building Bemis capital expansion project. The improvement and expansion of our facilities will provide us with the opportunity to respond to growing demand and increase our direct support of artists-in-residence by 50%. Capital improvements include five additional live/work studio spaces, 8,000 sq ft. of multi-use space, a new dock with an urban garden as well as the renovation our 10,000 sq ft. Okada Sculpture and Ceramics Facility. These improvements will ensure that we remain on the leading edge of artist residency programs worldwide.
This is truly an exciting moment in the history of the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts and I cordially invite you to join us on Saturday, June 25 from 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. to celebrate our anniversary and the dedication of our Building Bemis project. Thank you for your support and I am truly honored and extremely proud to be the executive director of the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts.
